First Aid Response (FAR) Course
The First Aid Response (FAR) Course is a comprehensive 3-day program accredited by the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC). It covers essential aspects of first aid specifically tailored for the workplace. As of June 1, 2018, the Health & Safety Authority (HSA) recognizes FAR as the standard for newly qualified workplace First Aiders. Content can be adapted to suit learner needs. Course Content: 1.Introduction to First Aid Response: •Understand the fundamentals of first aid. •Learn how to recognize and care for life-threatening injuries before professional help arrives. 2.Patient Assessment: •Develop skills in assessing and prioritizing care for injured individuals. 3.Cardiac First Response Community: •Learn emergency procedures for cardiac events. 4.Common Medical Emergencies: •Understand how to respond to various medical crises. 5.Injury Management and Shock: •Techniques for handling injuries and managing shock. 6.Care of the Unconscious Patient: •Provide appropriate care for unconscious individuals. 7.Wound and Bleed Management: •Learn wound care techniques. 8.Burns and Electrical Injury Care: •Understand first aid for burns and electrical injuries. 9.Soft Tissue, Dislocation, and Fractures: •Techniques for managing musculoskeletal injuries. 10.Hypothermia and Hyperthermia: •Recognize and respond to temperature-related emergencies. 11.Information Management and Communications: •Effective communication during emergencies. 12.The Well-Being of the First Aid Responder: •Self-care and stress management for responders. Additional Information: •Assessments: •All assessments are carried out in accordance with PHECC requirements. •Internally authenticated before certification is issued. •Participants have the right to appeal their results, following First Aid Academy Guidelines. •Successful candidates in the MCQ and practical exams receive a PHECC certificate valid for 2 years. •Grading of Assessment: •To pass this course, participants need a 60% pass rate. Cardiac First Responder (CFR) course
Course Content: •The CFR (Community) Course covers essential skills related to cardiac emergencies, including CPR/AED training. •Additional modules include: •Administration of aspirin: Understanding how to administer aspirin during a cardiac event. •Stroke assessment (FAST Assessment): Identifying signs of stroke using the FAST acronym (Face, Arms, Speech, Time). •Critical incident stress awareness: Recognizing and managing stress during emergency situations. •Cardiac First Responder Report (CFRR) and legal indemnity issues: Learning about documentation and legal aspects. Course Duration: •The CFR Response Course typically takes approximately 4 hours to complete. Certification: •Upon successful completion, participants receive a course completion card. •The certification is valid for 2 years. •The wallet-size certification card is issued by the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC).
